Task templates
🟥 Task templates provide useful help when creating tickets of a certain type
This text is a reference. What types of text are there?
Task templates are a central tool in Leadtime to ensure that tasks are created consistently and efficiently. They are used to provide predefined input fields and structuring aids for specific ticket types. These templates guide users through the task creation process and provide a standardized structure for capturing relevant information.
In the following example, a task template is created to standardize tasks of the type "Information security":

Purpose of task templates
- Increase efficiency: Templates can be used to create recurring tasks quickly and consistently.
- Consistency: Ensure that all important information is captured for specific task types.
- User guidance: Give users clear instructions on what information is required when creating tasks.
Creating a task template

- Navigate to the task settings and select the desired ticket type or create a new type.
- Define the general details of the ticket type:
- Icon: Select a suitable icon that visually supports the task type.
- Name: Enter a concise name for the task type.
- Type: Specify whether the task type is treated as a feature or bug.
- Add custom fields that are required for the task and additional mandatory fields.
- Template for task text: Here you can predefine the actual structure of the task. This serves as a guide for the user.
Using Editor Placeholder

A special feature is the editor placeholder. This provides instructions or explanations in edit mode that are only visible when the user fills out the ticket. After saving, these instructions are no longer visible, which makes for a clean and clear user interface.
To set a placeholder, call up the context menu by entering a "/" slash in the editor of the task template and select "Editor Placeholder".
Effects of the template when creating a ticket

If a ticket is created based on such a template, the template automatically adopts the predefined content in the description field. This ensures that the user only has to enter the specific information. The placeholder editor helps to guide the user through the input without these instructions remaining visible in the finished ticket.
Task templates are therefore a powerful tool to improve the consistency and quality of tasks in Leadtime, while minimizing the amount of work involved in ticket creation.
