Change Requests
🟩 Workshop 14: When additional work is added
This text is a guide. What types of text are there?
Change requests
Even if the quotation has already been approved by the customer, the project content often changes again in reality - for various reasons:
- A requirement is more complex than originally assumed.
- A requirement was not fully clarified at the start.
- The customer requests additional services during implementation.
The central question is then: Who bears the costs for the additional work?

In project management, subsequent customer requirements are referred to as a change request. Whether a new work package is a change request or was included in the original scope often has to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
How Leadtime supports the handling of change requests
Leadtime offers several functions so that additional work can be billed transparently and correctly:

In tickets not linked to my work package, there is a checkbox "Is Change Request / Change Request" in the right-hand column . When billing, all change requests appear as separate invoice items - in addition to the original master version of the project.
There is also the option of treating the additional ticket as an express offer. This means that the customer is presented with an express offer for this specific ticket, which they can approve or reject.

Express offers are listed separately in the subsequent invoice.
During billing, all tickets that are not assigned to a work package, do not have an express quote and are not marked as a change request are ignored . This is additional work not covered by the original quote due to a planning error, which the service provider must bear themselves.
Tickets without an assigned work package
If an additional ticket is created during the course of the project that is not assigned to an existing work package, it automatically ends up in the "Unassigned tasks" node below the regular project tree.

Conclusion:
Leadtime supports fair, clean and flexible handling of change requests. Project managers retain an overview of the approved scope of services, spontaneous additional work and billable extra work - without letting the project get out of hand.
