Book time on projects or tasks
🟩 It is possible to book working time to projects or to tasks within projects
This text is a guide. What types of text are there?
In Leadtime, users have the option of booking working time to both projects and specific tasks. This function supports detailed tracking of services rendered and helps to recognize how much time is invested in specific activities.

Why both are useful:
Booking time to projects:
Booking working time to projects is suitable for general activities that are not assigned to a specific ticket or clearly defined task. This is particularly useful when employees are doing smaller jobs that are not extensive enough to create a dedicated task. For example, general accounting work that does not justify a separate task can be posted directly to the "Accounting" project. In this way, the time worked remains traceable in the evaluations, even without a specific task having to be created.
Post time to tasks:
Posting time to tasks is ideal if they are clearly defined, delimited activities - especially if they have to be completed based on a division of labor. Example: "Write outgoing invoices for July". In this case, it makes sense to create a task that can be passed back and forth between the employees involved.
How to book time:
Book time to a project:

- Navigate to the desired project.
- Go to the "Time spent" tab.
- Click on "Book time" and select the "Time recording" tab in the "Book time" dialog that appears.

- The project is preset, now add the time (hours and minutes), select the activity (e.g. "Management") and enter a comment.
- Save the entry.
Book time to a task:

- Navigate to the specific task within a project.
- Open the task and click on the clock icon.
- In the "Book time" dialog that appears, select the "Time recording" tab.

- Enter the time, select the activity and leave a comment.
- Save the entry.
Advantages of time tracking in Leadtime:
- Project-specific tracking: Time can be posted generalized to projects to keep track of general activities.
- Task-specific transparency: Time can also be booked to tasks in detail, which provides clarity, especially for cross-team work.
- Flexibility: Depending on the need and type of work, employees can decide whether to book their working time to a project or a specific task.
These two options enable accurate and flexible recording of hours worked and contribute to the optimization of projects and resource planning.
The time tracker is the most important tool for recording time with Leadtime.
