Purpose of the employee journal

🖥️

Your company / Employees / [Employees] / Journal

Notion image

The Leadtime employee journal enables managers to systematically record notes and observations about employees. It is used to document staff appraisals, target agreements and agreements made. Reminder functions can also be used to schedule important reviews or agreements for the future. Individual entries can either be visible to the employee or remain hidden internally for the manager. This enables discreet management and well-founded argumentation in appraisal interviews.

How the journal works

Adding a journal entry

Notion image

To create a journal entry, click on the "Add journal entry" button. A dialog box opens in which the following information can be entered:

  • Employee's mood: Select the employee's perceived mood from three options:
    • 😢 Sad

      😐 Neutral

      😊 Satisfied

  • Entry: The actual note containing observations or feedback is written here. It is important that this entry is meaningful and precise so that it remains clear at a later date what was discussed or observed.
  • Remind me to check this on: This function allows you to set a reminder for a future date. For example, if a target agreement has been made, the line manager can set a reminder to check that the targets have been achieved. The creator of the entry receives a notification on the specified date.
  • Toggle: Visible for the employee: This function can be used to determine whether the journal entry is visible to the employee in their profile. If the toggle is activated, the employee sees the entry under "Journal" in their own profile.

Entries by employees

Employees can also add their own entries to their journal, for example to make their own notes on meetings with superiors. These entries are also visible in the employee's profile under the "Journal" tab.

Reminders

Reminder functions can be used to review important agreements at a later date. This supports systematic follow-up and enables action to be taken on the basis of specific observations and agreed targets.
